Pathways to Purpose

Learn the Behavior. Don't Diagnose the Person.

Not everyone who hurts you is a narcissist. But narcissistic patterns can be recognized by what someone repeatedly does — not what they claim to be. This is the book version of my 18-part teaching series — and the freedom on the other side of seeing clearly.

Book cover: a tangled labyrinth with one golden path winding through it toward dawn light, a broken chain link resting on the path

Every chapter gives you five things

What It Looks Like

The pattern, named plainly — the words, the moves, the signs you kept second-guessing.

The Teaching

Why the pattern works — and why it worked on you. Said gently, meant completely.

What It Is Not

The line between a pattern and a bad day — so you stay honest, not accusing.

What You Can Do

Practical moves for the next time it happens — including when the answer is “get safe.”

The Biblical Lens

A whole section on what Scripture already named: pride, deception, manipulation, control, and the freedom of boundaries.

A Truth to Hold

One sentence per chapter to keep in your pocket for the hard moments.

The patterns, chapter by chapter

Read it straight through, or open it on the day you need it — the day you got the silent treatment, the day you apologized for something you didn't do, the day they came back. There's a chapter waiting for that exact day.

Taught by someone who lived it

I'm Nikkimae — a survivor of 25 years of domestic violence. When my own family turned on me for breaking the cycle, I rebuilt my life on faith, honesty, and tools that actually work. I don't teach theory. I teach what I lived — gentle in how I say it, unmovable in what I say. This book is the teaching companion to my healing workbook: the workbook heals, this book names.

"I'm not teaching you to hate the person who hurt you. I'm teaching you how to heal, recognize unhealthy patterns, establish godly boundaries, and stop abandoning yourself in the name of love."

If my pain can save one person, then it was worth it. Maybe that one person is you.

Questions

How do I get the book?

Instantly. After checkout, Gumroad gives you the PDF download right away and emails you a receipt with the link. No account needed to buy.

Can I print it?

Yes — it's designed for it. Read it on any device, or print it and keep it where you need it most.

Do I need the workbook first?

No. This book stands on its own — it teaches you to recognize the patterns. The workbook is the companion that walks you through healing afterward, phase by phase.

I'm still in the relationship. Is this for me?

Yes. The early chapters are written for exactly where you are — seeing the pattern clearly and learning to trust your own mind again. Go at your pace, and if it ever turns threatening, your safety plan comes first.

Is this therapy?

No — it's peer support and education from a survivor, not a substitute for professional care. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 anytime, or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233. You are worth immediate help.

See it clearly. Then walk free.

Start with the pattern you're living right now.

Part 4

Gaslighting

"If someone keeps making you question your own memory, perception, and reality, pay attention."

Gaslighting is not the same as lying. A lie is about one event. Gaslighting is a campaign: a steady, repeated effort to make you distrust your own memory, your own senses, and your own mind. It works because it comes in small doses, delivered by someone whose opinion you trusted.

What you can do: Write events down the same day — date, words, what happened. When doubt hits, read the record before you ask their opinion of it. Your journal is not paranoia; it is evidence your future self can stand on.

Truth to hold: You don't need someone else to agree with your experience before you can take it seriously.
